This is a mushy post - however I feel it’s justified and since it’s my blog, I’ll allow it. Jenni’s grandfather passed away last night after battling a brain tumor for several months. It was the first time that I had actually seen someone die. Although he was a believer, it was still hard to go through the entire process. Through the midst of it all, there was a comfort in knowing that Grandpa got “promoted.” I decided last night that the song to be played at my funeral/memorial will be “Blessed be the Name of the Lord.” Throughout Grandpa’s battle with cancer, it had become my theme song.
In God’s sovereignty He also gave our friends the Santamaria’s a new baby girl on the same day. The Lord gives and takes away. When the world is as it should be and when the darkness closes in - Blessed be the Name of the Lord. God is sovereign and we exist for His glory. Regardless of how He chooses to use us, God is glorified.
Blessed be your name
In the land that is plentiful
Where the streams of abundance flow
Blessed be your name
Blessed be your name
When I’m found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be your name
Every blessing you pour out,
I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say…
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your glorious name
Blessed be your name
When the sun’s shining down on me
When the world’s all as it should be
Blessed be your name
Blessed be your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there’s pain in the offering
Blessed be your name
Every blessing you pour out,
I turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say…
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be your glorious name
You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, Blessed be your name

good words my friend! Way to “be there” in more way than one for God, grandpa, family, Jenni and yourself.

Vinoj … We never compared notes, but this song became deeply meaningful to me as well during our family’s journey with Dad, so imagine my wonder when I first saw your blog! You are truly a blessing from God to our family. Thanks for leaving this front & center for so long … I still need to send the link to a couple of friends
